This is it...the final shuttle launch. It was a bitter sweet day on Friday, July 8th. There was a very likely chance that the launch would be scrubbed due to bad weather conditions. Floridians and tourists alike were excited to watch the shuttle blast into space for the last time. Growing up in Orlando, I have been surrounded with NASA: going to field trips to Kennedy Space Center as a child, stepping outside my door or pulling my car over to see the beautiful pieces of metal shoot across the sky on launch days...I will miss this and I will never forget this amazing part of my childhood into my adulthood.
This rocket was intended to go up the week after the Atlantis shuttle launch.
